ETL

Introduction:
ETL stands for Extraction, Transformation, and Loading.  In a typical organizational scenario, there are multiple data sources (databases), the data from which has to be ported to a single database, with uniform business rules and consistency.

ETL process is the key to this data porting.

The ETL process involves the following sub processes which the ID consultants follow to optimize the ETL process.

  1. Mapping the data between various source systems and the target database which is the Data warehouse or a data mart.
  2. The source data is cleansed in the staging area.
  3. The clean data from the staging area is transformed and loaded into the data warehouse / data mart.
